  • Do you need time?

    Do you need time?

    Daily Prompt:

    Do I need time? Always.

Doesn’t everybody need time? It feels like in this world today, time is constantly running out. There is so much to do and to make to live, but never enough time to do it.

Even if you have a schedule or a routine. There is always something to add to it. We are always asking for more time.

More time to ourselves, more time to relax, more time to take a break off work, more time to spend with our loved ones, more time to get everything done that we need too.

    The list is endless.

Time is also endless, it continues on. Yet it seems as it is just disappearing before our eyes.

Years are flying by faster than ever before, but so much chaos and change has come and gone inbetween them. We always reminisce of days past, seemingly the good old days. When time didn’t feel like it was running away.

Anything can happen in a day, week, month, year or in the blink of an eye. Time is prescious, it is the present, past and future all in one. So I suggest taking your time with things as much as you can, take a moment to take everything in and experience life to the fullest.

Cause only time will tell what happens next.

  • The Delicate Dance of Healing

    The Delicate Dance of Healing

I started loving me again, in the delicate dance of healing.

I was forged from rage, channelling chaos. Now I am no longer shy of my authentic self. But I no longer want to be an acquaintance of chaos.

I welcome the sweet sound of letting things go. The rush of relief, the complete silence in the aftermath.

The slow crawl things try to make back inside my head. But no more!

I grew tired of apologising for things that break me. I don’t want to be tangled in the cobwebs of my past anymore.

I am content with solitary sunsets.

Ill wear the sun like golden pearls, while I explore the world.

And I look forward to tasting all the delightful what-ifs of the unknown.

  • What historical event fascinates you the most?

What historical event fascinates you the most?

    DAILY WRITING PROMPT:

What historical event fascinates me the most?

    The Holocaust – World War Two, Nazi Germany – 30th Jan 1933 – 8th May 1945.

Let’s start with a bit of background information.

The Holocaust is the deliberate and state-sanctioned genocide of six million Jewish people and an estimated five million murders of prisoners of war from Romany, people who were Jehovah Witnesses, homosexuals, the mentally ill and other victims that were deemed not of pure aryan race. The genocide was carried out by Hitler and his reign over Nazi Germany just before and at the height of World War Two.

These systematic murders would take place via mass shootings and sending prisoners to concerntration camps to either be executed by gas, amongst other things or made to do forced labour. The concerntration camps were Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Belzec, Sobibor and Chlelmno. Towards the end of the war and due to Nazi Germany failing to win, these camps would turn into extermination camps. The Nazis tried to get rid of as much evidence of the camps as they could, which also meant killing as many prisoners as they could at a quick rate.

Prisoner’s were also subjected to forced manual labour, starvation, illness, torture, being experimented on for medical research, extremely poor living conditions and most highly death by execution or by the gas chambers.

The Holocaust fascinates me because it is such an extreme atrocity against human life. Such an unimaginable event that sadly happened and was allowed to happen in our history. This extremely tragic event makes me question what human beings are capable of? It makes me question how a human or human beings can do something so evil to other human beings? And how was it allowed to happen by the people in power and supported by the community and country? And largely, will it happen again in history? Maybe not in my time, maybe it will many many years later. However it’s not the first time in history the genocide of a population and groups of people has happened. The Armenian Genocide 1915-1916, Bosnia and Herzegovina Genocide 1992-1995, Cambodian Genocide 1975-1979 and East Timor Genocide 1975 are just a few to name from the list in history.

The Holocaust brings up all of these questions and makes you deep dive into the human psyche, the history of nations and shows you what makes people do the things they do, even if it is the most extreme and inhumane act they could carry out.

On the other side, are the stories of the persecuted and the survivors of the Holocaust.

The stories of the survivors are so compelling. It shows the true strength of what someone can endure and survive. It is so important to listen to their stories to understand the true history of what happened and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The Holocaust teaches us a lot about life, humanity and history. From all sides, we can learn a lot from it happening, especially to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I am also truly touched by the survivors and their stories and history and the history of their fellow fallen. I pay my respects to them all and for what they endured for the life we all live today.

  • What will your life be like in three years?

What will your life be like in three years?

    DAILY PROMPT

What will my life be like in three years?

First thing that comes to mind is I have no clue? Things can change so fast in a day, let alone three years. So many directions life could go, so many situations, challenges and opportunities. And sometimes I personally don’t know what my life will be like in a week or a month, especially recently.

However, in three years, no matter who I meet or where I go or end up, I would like to build a foundation of life for myself and my cat Opal that is all ours and cannot be shaken by others.

Throughout my life I have built life foundations for others or around others, always putting them first and ending up on the backburner. And when people leave, everything comes crashing down and I had to start again.

It has taken me a long time and a hell of a lot of pain and suffering to learn that I need to put myself first and stand my ground. I don’t regret the past, it is how I am here today. However, moving forward I want to build foundations for myself that will be secure, fulfilling and adventerous and that will make me happy. And most importantly I want to build a foundation of strength that no one can take down.

In three years it would also be nice if I am able to write and publish my poetry in a book and win the lotto haha.

But building the foundations is a start and I am excited for what the future holds. Don’t give up on your dreams and don’t give up on yourself. You are worth it and the world is ready for you to explore x

  • Favourite Subject in school

    Daily writing Prompt:

My favorite subject in school would probably have to of been Ancient and Modern History.
Thanks to my Grandma, from an early age I have always been interested in the history of the world and of the human race. My Grandma would always be watching some type of history documentary on ABC or SBS or on video/DVD. She also has a wide range of history books and once we were on the topic, she could talk for hours about anything history-related.

A defining moment was when she gave me a biography book on Marie Antoinette and the history of France to read, and when I would watch with her any documentary on the World Wars, Nazi Germany, and the Holocaust in particular.

So when I went to school I was most excited to learn all I could about modern and ancient history. I chose both subjects for my electives in Years 11 and 12. I also chose to study Modern history as my sub-major topic for my bachelor of Arts degree. I also really enjoyed studying ethics and philosophy topics for my uni electives as they touched on the ancient history of philosophy and ethics that have helped shape our world today.

I believe studying and knowing about our world history is very important as it shows where we have come from and how things have come to be. As well as teaching us important lessons for the future, especially so we do not make the same mistakes in society again.

  • Indigo Hues, Watercolour Skies

    Indigo Hues, Watercolour Skies

    I cry watercolour skies,
You can see the tracks of my tears.
    I’m too dead inside.

Indigo hues deepen as daylight wanes,
    And I realise,
I don’t live here anymore, inside my head.

All I can think of is,
    Hope is a slow poison,
    And temporary ecstasy,
    is enchanting,
Against the fatal embrace of time.

  • Seek The Balm For The Soul

Seek The Balm For The Soul

    Seek the wonder in life,
    And never stop.

    Seek the showers of gold,
And the shimmers of sweet light.

    The good things,
    The mysterious things,
    The wonderful things.

Never stop seeking what makes you smile.

Allow yourself to get lost in the magic.

Seek the balm for the soul.

  • Forever in Flight or Fight

    Forever in Flight or Fight

I hate it in my own head.
    My own worst enemy.
    Wishing I was dead.

    The demons get too loud.
The cloud of illusion rolls in quick.
I can’t get myself to calm down,
    And realise,
    Its all in my head.

    Sorrow holds its grip tight.
And I try and try with all my might,
    To overcome, to push through.
But sometimes reasons are gone with the wind.
    The grip is too suffocating,
And the screams of pain too loud.

    I am my own enemy.
    But at the same time,
    I am my own saviour.

    The battles are just ongoing.
The end of the war is no where in sight.
    Day to day,
    Night to night.
    Forever in flight or fight.

  • Stuck In The Void

    Stuck In The Void

    All the days and nights
    Fade away.

    Fade into each other,
    Into a haze.

    All the thoughts and feelings,
    All the pain.
    A whirlpool of emotion,
    Sucking me in.

  • Is it Better to Feel Numb?

Is it Better to Feel Numb?

Is it better to feel numb?
Even just for a little while.
To turn off from the sadness, you’ll know you will have to face again and again

Or is feeling numb a sign that the sadness has become too much? and you have become used to feeling like this,

Used to all the bullshit and the trauma, that feels never-ending.

And being numb is a coping response to try and feel some peace,

even if its short lived, even if its for one moment.

One little sliver of peace amongst the chaos.

One moment of floating instead of falling into the void of darkness that is my mind.

    To My Love

    Hold me close my dear.

    Hold me near and near.

    Never let go.

    Your warmth and light,

    Keep me safe always.

May love be with us forevermore.

    And may love and peace,

Be all the happy moments we share.

    I am with you always,

    Heart and soul.

    Through stormy seas and sunshine,

    And all the inbetween.

    Grow, Die, Grow Again

    We grow,
    We die,
    We grow again.

    Through life,
    And its garden
    Of pain
    And beauty.

    Fleeting moments,
    Changing seasons.

    We grow,

  • We Become One

    We Become One

As the sun sets over the mountains and darkness becomes night,

Our souls reset for another day.
    Our hearts settle.
Our minds may race processing the day that is done.
    Our body lays to rest.

As the sun sets over the mountains and darkness becomes night,
We become one with our true self.

  • Unnecessary Fear

    Unnecessary Fear

We dwell on fear and let it consume us. We let fear overwhelm us with its tight grasp, pulling us further down into the destruction of the self. We are clouded by the worst possible consequence that we do not see opportunities right in front of us. We fail to take hold of them, and we let them pass by. A placebo effect of fear can sometimes stop us in our tracks.

Most of our fears are unnecessary and have unnecessary control over us. We must break the chains that bound us. We fear what ifs and everything falling apart. However, we will never know the outcome if we do not take the chance to take the risk. Sometimes aspects of our lives falling apart is a blessing in disguise as it paves the way for bigger and better things to come in the future. There is a reason for every moment even if it takes times to make sense of.

We should not let fear hold us back from exploring our greatest adventures and moments. Do not let fear define you. Fear should not dictate your life.
Take that leap, make that move and run full ahead into your goals and dreams.
