Favourite Subject in school

Daily writing Prompt:

My favorite subject in school would probably have to of been Ancient and Modern History.
Thanks to my Grandma, from an early age I have always been interested in the history of the world and of the human race. My Grandma would always be watching some type of history documentary on ABC or SBS or on video/DVD. She also has a wide range of history books and once we were on the topic, she could talk for hours about anything history-related.

A defining moment was when she gave me a biography book on Marie Antoinette and the history of France to read, and when I would watch with her any documentary on the World Wars, Nazi Germany, and the Holocaust in particular.

So when I went to school I was most excited to learn all I could about modern and ancient history. I chose both subjects for my electives in Years 11 and 12. I also chose to study Modern history as my sub-major topic for my bachelor of Arts degree. I also really enjoyed studying ethics and philosophy topics for my uni electives as they touched on the ancient history of philosophy and ethics that have helped shape our world today.

I believe studying and knowing about our world history is very important as it shows where we have come from and how things have come to be. As well as teaching us important lessons for the future, especially so we do not make the same mistakes in society again.
